What are safety shoes, and how do they differ from ordinary shoes?

Safety shoes are work shoes with a reinforced toe cap that resists a 200 J impact and 15 kN of compression, plus a sole built to grip the floor. Ordinary shoes have neither. When a pipe, a drum or a tool lands on an ordinary shoe, it goes straight through to the toes.

The toe cap is the part everyone knows. The rest of the shoe matters just as much: a closed heel, a sole that does not skid, and in some classes a plate under the foot against nails and sharp scrap. A safety shoe does not make you safe on its own. It covers the foot, and the rest of the body still needs its own gear, such as safety gloves for the hands and safety goggles for the eyes.

Do safety shoes last forever? No. A toe cap that took one heavy hit, or a sole worn smooth, has done its work and needs replacing. The FAQ at the end of the page lists the signs to look for.

What do S1, S1P, S2 and S3 mean on safety shoes?

These letters are safety classes under EN ISO 20345. SB is the base: the toe cap resists a 200 J impact and 15 kN of compression. S1 adds a closed heel, antistatic behaviour and an energy absorbing heel. S1P adds a plate against sharp objects under the foot. S2 adds a water resistant upper. S3 adds the plate, the water resistance and a cleated sole.

ClassWhat it adds to the baseWhere it fits
SB200 J toe cap, 15 kN compressionDry floors with a falling load risk and little else
S1Closed heel, antistatic, energy absorbing heelIndoor floors, workshops, stores
S1PS1 plus a plate against sharp objectsFloors with nails, wire or scrap
S2S1 plus a water resistant upperDamp floors
S3S2 plus the plate and a cleated soleWet, rough ground and building sites

A higher class does not mean a better shoe for every job. S3 gives the most cover, and it is also the stiffest to wear all day. Pick the class from the hazard on your floor, then check that the shoe you are offered is marked with it. Ask us for the marking of the exact model from its datasheet before you order.

Which safety shoes suit your job in Karachi?

Which shoe you need depends on what can hit, cut, soak or shock your feet at work. The table below is a starting list for common jobs in a Karachi godown, workshop or site, and a supervisor who knows the floor should confirm the final choice.

JobHazard underfoot or overheadType to ask for
Loading and godown workFalling cartons, rolling trolleysSteel toe safety shoes, S1 or higher
Building siteNails, rebar offcuts, rough groundSteel toe with a plate, S1P or S3
Workshop and machine floorFalling tools, skidding on a smooth floorSteel toe safety shoes with a slip resistant sole
Wet floor, mud or washdownStanding waterGumboots, or S3 shoes for damp ground
Electrical panel workStatic build up, live partsAnti static shoes, plus footwear marked for electrical insulation
WeldingSparks, hot metalSteel toe safety shoes, with welding gloves and a helmet

What if a floor has two hazards? Pick the shoe for the worse one, then check it against the other. A wet godown with a forklift needs the toe cap and the water resistance in the same shoe. A welder pairs the shoe with welding gloves and welding glasses, and keeps a fire blanket within reach of the bench.

Steel toe safety shoes or composite toe: which one?

Both pass the same 200 J impact and 15 kN compression test, so neither is weaker on paper. Steel toe safety shoes are heavier, they conduct heat and cold, and they set off metal detectors. Composite toes are about 30 to 50 percent lighter and do not do either, but the cap is thicker and you may need half a size up.

For a Karachi godown or workshop where nobody walks through a metal detector, steel is the usual pick and the lighter choice on the budget. If your site needs metal free shoes, ask us on WhatsApp and we tell you what we can get. UTC's list is steel toe, and we say so before you order, not after.

Safety shoes for the factories of SITE, Korangi and Landhi

Karachi's industrial zones include SITE at Manghopir, Landhi, Korangi, Federal B Area, North Karachi and Port Qasim. A floor in any of them has trolleys, pallets, scrap offcuts and wet patches from washdown, and the shoe has to handle all four in one shift. Safety shoes in Karachi factories take that kind of daily wear, so fit and class matter more than the label on the box.

If you manage a crew in one of these zones, you do not need to travel to us. Send the list of workers with their shoe sizes on WhatsApp and the type you need. We confirm what is in stock and quote the whole order together. A loud press hall also needs ear muffs, and we can quote both in one message. Collection is from the shop at Seari Quarters, or we deliver all over Karachi with the charge agreed on a call or WhatsApp.

Where can you buy safety shoes in Karachi?

You can buy safety shoes in Karachi from United Trading Company, Shop no 1, Shams Chamber, Shahrah-e-Liaquat, opposite the DIGP investigation office, Seari Quarters, or order on WhatsApp at 0313 2291500. We deliver all over Karachi, and the delivery charge is agreed on a call or WhatsApp.

Not sure which type you need? Describe the floor and the work, and we suggest one. Bring your old shoe, or its size, if you are replacing a pair. If you are buying for a crew, bring the list. The shop is the right place to try the fit before you commit a whole order, and WhatsApp is the right place when you are on a site and cannot leave. Our contact page has the map and the hours.

Prices are not printed on this page. A rate depends on the type, the class, the brand and how many pairs you need, so we quote after you tell us those four things. A quote costs you one message.

Do anti static safety shoes protect you from electric shock?

No. Anti static safety shoes lead static charge to the ground through the sole, which protects equipment and reduces sparks. They do not protect you from live circuits or high voltage. For work near live electrical parts, ask for footwear marked for electrical insulation, and look for EN 50321 on the label.

UTC lists anti static shoes for floors where static is the problem. Every shoe from class S1 up carries antistatic behaviour, so you do not always need a separate pair. If the job is electrical, tell us so on WhatsApp and ask for the marking paper of the exact model before it goes to site. Do you then need a separate pair for electrical work? Often yes, because a shoe that is anti static and one that insulates are two different things, and mixing them up is the common mistake. Add electrical insulating gloves for the hands, and keep the right fire extinguishers beside the panel room door.

Are gumboots safety shoes, and when do you need them?

Gumboots are waterproof rubber boots for wet floors, mud and washdown. They count as safety footwear only when the model has a toe cap and is marked for it. Plain rubber boots keep your feet dry and do not stop a falling load.

UTC lists safety gumboots in the same range. Ask us whether the model you are looking at has a toe cap, and ask for its marking. Where the floor is wet and things also fall on it, a capped gumboot is the shoe to ask for. Where the floor is only damp, S3 safety shoes often do the job and are easier to walk in all day.

Size and fit for safety shoes

Which size do you take in a steel cap? Do not guess. A safety shoe that pinches gets left in the locker, and then it protects nobody. Try on late in the day, when feet are at their widest, and wear the socks you wear at work. Leave room at the toes, because a steel toe cap does not stretch the way leather does.

If you are between two sizes, take the larger one in a shoe with a steel cap, and in a composite toe shoe check whether half a size up is needed. Send your size on WhatsApp if you cannot come in. For ladies, small and large sizes, we confirm what is in stock before you pay, so you never wait on a size we do not have.

Which safety shoe brands can you order in Karachi?

Buyers in Karachi mostly ask for four safety shoe brands by name: Safety Jogger, Safetoe, Burly and Rangers. Tell UTC the brand and the model on WhatsApp, and we confirm whether it is in stock and send its marking paper. We do not call a model in stock until we have checked it.

BrandLines buyers ask forWhat to send us
Safety JoggerBest Boy (S3, steel toe), Cador (S1P), Balto (SB, breathable steel toe), X1100N (S3, metal free)The model name and your size
SafetoeM-8027 Best Boy (S3), L-7163 (S3, low ankle), L-7296 (S1P, anti static)The model number and your size
BurlyAsk for the model you have seenThe model name and your size
RangersModel 2020PThe model name and your size

The classes above are the ones distributors print beside each line. A class belongs to the exact model, not to the brand, so we check it against that model's datasheet before we quote. If your brand is not on this list, send its name and the model through the quote form, and we tell you whether we can get it.

PPE that goes with safety shoes

Shoes cover the feet. The rest of the body needs its own protection, and the same shop supplies it. See the full PPE and safety equipment range for safety helmets, safety gloves, ear protection and protective clothing, or browse the products page for everything we stock.

A site that buys safety shoes in Karachi usually needs the fire side covered too. Start with fire extinguishers for the same godown or workshop, and fire hoses and hose reels where the building needs them.

Safety shoe questions people ask in Karachi

Short answers to what buyers ask us most. If yours is not here, ask on WhatsApp.

Ask on WhatsApp

Are safety shoes compulsory in Karachi factories?

The Sindh Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2017 makes the employer provide suitable protective equipment where a hazard cannot be removed, and it makes workers use what they are given. It does not name footwear. A factory with falling or rolling loads is the case where safety shoes are the usual answer, so ask your safety officer.

How much do safety shoes cost in Karachi?

UTC quotes safety shoes by type, class, brand and quantity, and does not print prices on this page. The rate changes with the toe cap, the class and the brand you choose. Send those details on WhatsApp at 0313 2291500 and we reply with a rate, so you know the cost before you decide.

Are safety shoes waterproof?

Some are. S2 and S3 classes add a water resistant upper, while S1 and S1P do not. Water resistant is not the same as waterproof, and standing water finds its way over the top of any shoe. For a floor that stays under water, ask for gumboots instead.

Can I get safety shoes that look like sneakers?

Sports style safety shoes exist, and they come with the same toe cap as a boot. UTC lists what it holds, so send a photo of the style you want on WhatsApp and we tell you what we have and what the nearest option is. Check that the class mark is on the shoe, because the look tells you nothing about the class.

Do you have ladies safety shoes and small sizes?

We confirm the sizes in stock before you pay, including ladies, small and large sizes. Send the size and the type on WhatsApp, and we tell you what is on the shelf and what would have to be ordered. You do not commit to anything until you have seen the answer.

Can safety shoes be worn all day?

Yes, if the fit is right and the class matches the work. A shoe that pinches or rubs is the wrong size, not a bad safety shoe. A cushioned insole helps on concrete. Fit with your work socks, and swap in a second pair if your shift is long and your feet sweat.

When should I replace my safety shoes?

Replace safety shoes when the sole is worn smooth or cracked, when the toe cap is dented or showing through, or when the upper is cut or torn. A shoe that took a heavy blow on the toe cap has done its job once. We give no fixed number of months, because it depends on the work.

Do you give bulk rates for staff shoes?

Send the list of workers, their sizes and the type, and we quote the whole order together. Ask us about the quantity terms when you send the list. We confirm any bulk terms with the quote, not before it, so you see the number before you decide.

Which safety shoes should a welder or electrician wear?

A welder wears steel toe safety shoes with welding gloves, a welding helmet and a flame resistant coverall. An electrician wears anti static shoes for static and footwear marked for electrical insulation near live parts, and checks for EN 50321. Tell us the job and we match the shoe.

What should I send to get a quote?

Send the type of shoe, the size for each worker, the quantity, the brand and model if you have one, and your area in Karachi. A photo of the old shoe or its label helps. With those details we reply on WhatsApp at 0313 2291500 with the right model and a rate. You can also use the quote form.

How this page was built

United Trading Company prepared it in October 2026 from our own list, public seller pages, buyer questions seen in search and the sources listed below. We name no approval or test paper that we cannot show.

Facts on this page were checked on 13 Oct 2026. Spotted a mistake? Email info@example.com.

  1. Safety classes SB, S1, S1P, S2 and S3 follow EN ISO 20345. Ask for the marking of the exact UTC model from its datasheet before you order.
  2. Sindh Occupational Safety and Health Act 2017: employer duty to provide protective equipment and worker duty to use it. It does not name footwear. Wording to be rechecked against the official text.
  3. Brand and model lines in the brands table are the ones distributors print; UTC confirms stock and the marking of each model before quoting.
